KXIP teammates Shami, Sarfaraz train together, gear up for IPL 2020

The duo practiced together at Mohammed Shami’s farmhouse home in Uttar Pradesh.

Live sport is gradually making a comeback in most parts of the world, with resumption of cricket in England earlier this month. In India, authorities have been a little more cautious with restarting sport, but athletes have been given permission to resume training at their local academies.

Since the start of the month, many cricketers have been back on the field, training as best as possible at their respective academies and grounds. Amongst those cricketers has been Kings XI Punjab’s Mohammed Shami, who has converted part of his farmhouse into a cricket pitch to ensure he stays in sync with his bowling.

The pacer from Sahaspur, Uttar Pradesh has posted several videos of him playing in his farmhouse. Earlier this week however, a familiar face joined him for those practice sessions, none other than fellow KXIP teammate Sarfaraz Khan.

New joining at my farmhouse practice @sarfarazkhan97

Shami took to social media to post a picture of the duo, with the caption reading ‘new joining at the farmhouse practice’, referring to Sarfaraz.

Although originally based out of Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan has been in his hometown of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh since March along with his father Naushad and brother Mushir. The Khan household too have kept in tune with cricket since the lockdown was imposed, practicing on their terraces with plastic and rubber balls.

Both Shami and Sarfaraz have been helping out the community as well, feeding thousands of migrants in their locality during lockdown. Sarfaraz Khan also decided to skip his Eid festivities this year to donate more funds to the migrants.

Earlier in the month, the likes of Suresh Raina and Piyush Chawla had also visited Mohammed Shami’s farmhouse wicket, getting a few sessions of good practice amidst the lockdown.

Now, with Sarfaraz Khan joining the ‘farmhouse practice’, KXIP fans can be rest assured that two of their big players will be in good nick ahead of a potential Season 13 of the VIVO Indian Premier League in September.
