Kings XI Punjab have managed to turn the corner in the second half of the 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League, and find themselves in a strong position to finish amongst the top four. KL Rahul’s side had just one win from their first seven games in the competition, but the last five games has seen them pick five consecutive wins to break into the top four of the IPL points table.

KXIP now have their fortunes in their own hands, as two more wins will guarantee them a top four finish. They face the bottom two sides in Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in their final two league stage games. While both games on paper would seem like a favourable finish for Punjab, their batting coach Wasim Jaffer was quick to remind his players that there aren’t going to be any easy games in the IPL.

“I think they are a very good side, we don't need to take them lightly or any team lightly for that matter. We just don't need to get too far ahead of ourselves and get complacent,” said Jaffer, talking in reference to Rajasthan Royals.

“That is going to be the challenge for us, just look at it one game at a time; and you know winning, winning is more important. That's it,” added Jaffer.

The former Indian opener believes that KXIP have performed very well in their past five games to turn the corner and get into the top four on the IPL table. More of the same and he believes that his side will be in a good position to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

“I think we just need to play the way we've played and we've fought in the last five games. We just need to take one game at a time, irrespective of where we are on the table or where the opposition is on the table. We just don't need to think about that and just play with the same momentum we did so far and play collectively well,” concluded Jaffer.
