Following the heartbreak of losing out against Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab will hope for a bounce back in their next game of the Dream11 Indian Premier League, where they will take on the champions Mumbai Indians. Both franchises head into this game with two losses and a win so far, and will look to get back to winning ways and building some momentum as the tournament catches steam. 

Aamne Saamne

Mumbai Indians have the superior head-to-head record but it was Kings XI Punjab who won the first meeting between the two sides last season. KXIP also have a better record in the UAE, with six wins and just two losses. Mumbai Indians on the other hand have just one win so far in the UAE. 

Batting de Baadshah

Captain Punjab KL Rahul currently holds the Orange Cap for IPL 2020, with a fifty and a hundred so far in the competition. The swashbuckling opening batsman has been in great form this IPL season, and has historically performed well against Mumbai Indians as well. The 28-year-old will undoubtedly be the main threat for Rohit Sharma and co.

Mumbai Indians have struggled with the bat so far this season, with captain Rohit Sharma being the highest run getter so far with 100 runs to his name, but 80 of those came in one game. The IPL champions found a new batting sensation in Ishan Kishan in the last game, who got a quickfire 99 and nearly got the team home against RCB, and Mumbai Indians’ management would hope for the southpaw to have another good outing against KXIP. 

Bowling de Kings

Mohammed Shami has been the most consistent bowler for Kings XI Punjab this season, with seven wickets so far in the competition. He picked up at least one wicket in the powerplay over in two of the three KXIP games this season, and has maintained a healthy economy rate as well. 

Trent Boult has performed a similar role for Mumbai Indians this campaign, almost guaranteeing wickets in the powerplay. The left-arm seamer has a strike rate of just over 13 for IPL 2020, and has been a lethal weapon to disrupt the opening batsmen plans of the opposition. 

Mudde di Baat

Both teams ended on the wrong side of the result in their previous games,narrowingly missing out on a win. Both these sides have also been on the losing side in games that went to the Super Over, so heading into Thursday, the team that can handle pressure better could end victorious. 

Yaad Rakhiyo

• Kings XI Punjab have won seven of the 11 games against Mumbai Indians while batting first.
• Jasprit Bumrah has conceded the second most runs in the IPL so far for 2020.

KL Rahul (c and wk), Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Sarfaraz Khan, Jimmy Neesham, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Mujeeb ur Rahman.

The KXIP batsmen have performed brilliantly in the tournament so far, and it would be unlikely to be shuffled around for the game against Mumbai Indians. On the bowling front, Sheldon Cottrell proved expensive last time around, and could be replaced this game by mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman.
