How has the tour been so far?
It’s been very good. We’ve had great facilities and practice in Port Elizabeth. Thankfully, the weather was good too and that allowed us to have some good practice and preparation.
It’s been a week into the IPL almost… which team do you think is the toughest?
It’s hard to say yet who is the toughest since it’s still early stages. Last year was a similar start for the top three teams… us and also the Rajasthan Royals who didn’t do too well early on. But we had a great run after the first two games. So maybe after six or seven games each, we can judge that.
Are you expecting the game against Bangalore Royal Challengers to be a tough one?
Every T20 game is tough. But this will be a good game since they are in good form although they have lost two games. We won’t underestimate them. But we are looking to start our winning streak from this match.
Where has the team fallen short in the first two games?
It’s the weather that made it hard for us. We didn’t get a chance to bowl out our full quota and have a chance of defending our total. We did our best with the bat, and maybe we did lack somewhere, but we haven’t had a fair chance to be honest.
How are you enjoying South Africa?
I am working a lot on my physiotherapy… building strength and Patrick has been keeping a close eye on my progress… so I have been focused on my fitness and preparation.
What are your expectations for yourself?
I want to do better than last year. I bowled okay last year, but this year I want to make a bigger impact. I am not necessarily targeting anyone, just looking to take crucial wickets to help the team win.
How is your injury healing?
My leg is now good… I have given it all the time required for a full recovery. It was a problem last year, but now it is feeling much better.
