Kings XI Punjab

Admirable performance
19 May, 2009 | Col. Arvinder Singh
The clash against Delhi Daredevils was a very decisive one for us and we were geared up for it. Generally the preparation before any match is the same but this time the intensity of the team was different as everybody had realised that this was a do or die game for them.
Players in the dug out were extremely confident of pulling this through and were raring to go and play. The hard work which was put in for this match was evident in the bowling and fielding standards. The batting which followed later was laudable.
Even though the required run rate at one stage had shot up, we had our strategy in place and were confident of getting the target. Special mention needs to be given to Irfan Pathan who took us home with his outstanding batting which included 3 fiery sixes. On our way back I did get to interact with Irfan on the aeroplane and from our conversation it was evident that he seemed very positive about the remaining two matches. The win against Delhi had restored the much needed confidence in the team which was a really good sign.
Overall the performance of the team was admirable but we can always do a lot better.
