09 March, 2010 |
The second practice match of Kings XI Punjab at the Punjab Cricket Association in Mohali, played under lights, showed how important good starts are. Team A (Ravi Bopara and Co) outplayed Team B (Brett Lee and Co) by 40 runs.
Ravi and wicket keeper batsman Manvinder Bisla put on 80 runs before the first wicket fell at 80. Bisla's blistering 97 showed consolidation and strength while Bopara's forty showed he has more in store. Irfan Pathan came in at the fall of the first wicket and anchored the innings while adding 24, therefore preventing the famous rot. Team A reached a respectable total and the pressure was on their opponents.
Batting for Team B, Karan Goel chipped in with twenty while Sunny Sohal contributed thirty. Like any twenty-over game it was anybody's but Ajitesh Argal bagged four wickets and his teammates ably supported him in restricting Team B to 98. Overall, it was a good match with both sides hitting and catching well. Can you hear the Roar now!!?
