This is it. A must win match. We must defeat the Delhi Daredevils to keep out hopes of qualifications alive. Yet, we might not know if we are through till the final ball of the IPL 5 league matches. This is what makes IPL so special.
A super bowling effort saw us topple CSK for second time this IPL. We managed to restrict them for a low score and chased it down with ease. Though fielding was again disappointing with two catches put down that could have proven very costly. Gilly being back and back with a bang made a huge difference to the team and now the team needs this belief when they take on the table toppers DD.
DD got upstaged by RCB, or should we say Chris Gayle, as Viru’s absence and the decision to rest Morkel backfired on them. The mammoth total was anyway hard to chase and Viru’s absence made it tougher. But they still fought till the end and Taylor’s return to form will be a blessing for them. Though their bowling was poor compared their previous match against us where they really made it difficult for us to score.
The gamble of going in with 4 seamers paid off as we dismantled the CSK line up on a green, pacy wicket at Dharamshala. However, Piyush’s form is a worry as David had to bowl out his quota of overs. There is not really any change needed. Marsh sitting out was controversial but worked for us. Bringing him in would mean dropping Harris who despite picking one wicket bowled tremendously. Unless a seamer replaces Chawla, it will not make sense to drop Harris for Marsh.
DD will definitely bring Morkel back in for this one. His pace will be something else to handle on this pitch and their pace battery will be delighted to see the wicket with life in it. Taylor’s return to form though poses a tough question that whom does Viru replace if he is fit to play? Either him or Mahela will have to sit out to accommodate Sehwag.
Time to look past our weaknesses, our faults and any excuses that we have. This is it. We must believe that we can win this. We must this. Bring it on.
